Boreala skogar \u00e4r fuktiga ekosystem som s\u00e4llan lider av torka, men vintertid \u00e4r vattnet i form av is och sn\u00f6 som v\u00e4xterna inte kan utnyttja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De speciella f\u00f6rh\u00e5llandena i det boreala omr\u00e5det begr\u00e4nsar f\u00f6rekomsten av tr\u00e4darter. De tr\u00e4darter som klarar sig b\u00e4st \u00e4r st\u00e4ndigt gr\u00f6na barrtr\u00e4d med n\u00e5lliknande blad, till exempel gran och tall. De h\u00e4r tr\u00e4darterna \u00e4r s\u00e4rskilt v\u00e4l anpassade f\u00f6r h\u00e5rda vinterf\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden: den smala toppen \u00e4r l\u00e4mpad f\u00f6r att klara av tyngden fr\u00e5n sn\u00f6massor, barrens m\u00f6rka f\u00e4rg h\u00e5ller effektivt kvar v\u00e4rmestr\u00e5lningen och de sm\u00e5 barrformade bladen klarar v\u00e4l av torka och h\u00e5rda f\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden. Barrtr\u00e4dens st\u00e4ndiga gr\u00f6na g\u00f6r det ocks\u00e5 m\u00f6jligt f\u00f6r dem att inleda assimilationen tidigt p\u00e5 v\u00e5ren, s\u00e5 snart f\u00f6rh\u00e5llandena blivit l\u00e4mpliga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r att tr\u00e4den ska klara av den \u00e5rsrytm som best\u00e4ms av klimatet har de reglermekanismer som styr den biologiska aktiviteten under olika \u00e5rstider.
