En av de viktigaste v\u00e4xthusgaserna \u00e4r koldioxid (CO<sub>2<\/sub>). Koldioxidhalterna har \u00f6kat som en f\u00f6ljd av utsl\u00e4pp fr\u00e5n fossila br\u00e4nslen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>V\u00e4xterna binder och frig\u00f6r hela tiden v\u00e4xthusgaser och inverkar d\u00e4rmed p\u00e5 atmosf\u00e4ren. En del av den koldioxid som m\u00e4nniskorna sl\u00e4pper ut i atmosf\u00e4ren binds av v\u00e4xtekosystemen, s\u00e5som skogarna, samt i haven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tr\u00e4dens biomassa bildas av vatten, n\u00e4ring och kol, som h\u00e4rstammar ur atmosf\u00e4rens koldioxid. I princip g\u00e4ller allts\u00e5 att ju fler tr\u00e4d det finns, desto mindre koldioxid finns i atmosf\u00e4ren. Skogarna p\u00e5 jordklotet avl\u00e4gsnar \u00e5rligen 8,8 miljarder ton koldioxid ur atmosf\u00e4ren, vilket i stort sett motsvarar en tredjedel av de \u00e5rliga koldioxidutsl\u00e4ppen fr\u00e5n fossila br\u00e4nslen (Pan et al. 2011).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Koldioxids\u00e4nkorna, allts\u00e5 de processer som avl\u00e4gsnar koldioxid ur atmosf\u00e4ren, har vuxit d\u00e5 koldioxidhalten i atmosf\u00e4ren har \u00f6kat (Ballantyne et al. 2012). Det betyder allts\u00e5 att haven och skogarna avl\u00e4gsnar mer koldioxid \u00e4n f\u00f6rut ur atmosf\u00e4ren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>V\u00e4xternas n\u00e4rvaro inverkar p\u00e5 klimatet ocks\u00e5 genom albedot, det vill s\u00e4ga reflexionsf\u00f6rm\u00e5gan: ju m\u00f6rkare jordytan \u00e4r, desto mindre solstr\u00e5lning reflekteras tillbaka ut i rymden. Ocks\u00e5 avdunstningen fr\u00e5n v\u00e4xterna inverkar p\u00e5 klimatet. \u00c4ven om vatten\u00e5nga \u00e4r en v\u00e4xthusgas kyler avdunstningen klimatet lokalt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skogshanteringen inverkar p\u00e5 skogarnas f\u00f6rm\u00e5ga att binda kol, avdunsta och reflektera solstr\u00e5lning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referenser:<br>Pan Y., Birdsey R.A, Fang J. et al.
